It is written in such a messenger of language that I am entitled to read it even when I have been practicing yoga for years, teaching, and living the benefits of yoga deeply. I thought about my waist, which I slowly injured my body with the shoulder postures, when I had not been able to pull myself up yet at the times I first started yoga, or the damage caused by a single yoga session on my knees a few years ago and the pain that did not pass for weeks.

From time to time, anti-yoga articles are published in the media, such as the spokesperson of the authority such as The NY Times, BBC News, and Observer. While most say that you need to work with a qualified instructor (of course), yoga doesn’t work as an exercise alone (depending on what you expect from this exercise), almost none of them mentions that yoga injuries can be caused by ambition and ego. It is described as if yoga has more harm than good. While injuries are considered reasonable in “accepted” sports such as tennis and running, yoga injuries, which are extremely low in proportion, are shown with fingers immediately. The system says: go to work now, get out now, go to the pub, drink so much, watch the match, go home, have a queue at the door, but wait to enter that club, take the pills of happiness we distribute inside, the last bus leaves soon if you don’t go home You stay on the street, go to work, work, work, and consume to keep your mind embraced with chemicals or alcohol or television. Although our body can tolerate 10 degrees of heat loss, it cannot withstand more than 5 degrees of heat increase. The hyperthermia of 70 athletes, that is, they died from high temperature, reveals the importance of this issue. If so-called Yoga exercises are carried out in such a warm room, an enlargement of the skin vessels occurs to keep the body temperature constant. Blood is deposited in the skin and subcutaneous region. The condition called “hypovolemia” occurs as a result of both blood slipping into this area and fluid loss from the sweat glands.

That means a significant reduction in the amount of blood that goes to vital internal organs and the brain occurs. Both the working muscles and the skin trying to lower the body temperature try to get a big share of the blood pumped by the heart. Thus, our cardiovascular system, which is in a dead-end, increases the heart rate even more. The heart is forced too hard, even in people without heart disease, life threats can arise. In hot exercises, metabolic residues such as lactic acid accumulate earlier and more in the body, and early fatigue occurs.

Electrolyte imbalance occurs due to both lactic acid accumulation and fluid loss, and pain and cramps occur in the muscles. Those who recommend doing yoga at 40 degrees claim that the blood that is filled with oxygen in this way will circulate throughout the body and all organs will be renewed. However, as scientifically mentioned above, blood cannot circulate because it accumulates in the muscles and skin, and the functions of the heart and other vital organs are compromised. This method, which can already be fatal for people with cardiovascular diseases, can even endanger the lives of healthy people. The person who describes this so-called yoga also states that with this method, the blood will thin and will clean the circulatory system. However, on the contrary, the fluidity of the blood will decrease due to fluid loss at high temperatures, moreover, the blood flow will slow down due to the expansion in the blood vessels.
